An exceptionally fine eighteenth-century Piedmontese pier mirror. The ornately moulded frame is surmounted by elaborate scrolling foliate surmount, which looms over the mirror plate. The wonderfully foxed mercury mirror plate is framed by a slender mercury glass marginal plate with applied floral paterae decoration. The frame rests on outswept feet, to support it on a console, mantel or similar.
Italian, mid-18th century, Piedmont with restorations.
