Vintage Design
To celebrate the 110th anniversary of the birth of renowned French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand, Cassina and Louis Vuitton have re-launched her celebrated ‘LC4’ chaise longue, originally designed in collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in 1928.
Released as part of a limited edition, the ‘LC4 CP’ tribute edition has been aesthetically reimagined from the black-cushioned original, with a pale-pink mattress and deep-brown foot and headrest in Louis Vuitton’s finest saddle-leather. It is Modernism contemporised for the 21st century.
The renewal of this iconic piece reflects a recent renaissance of Perriand’s designs, with an unbuilt house she designed in 1934 finally realised as part of Design Miami/ last month, and Louis Vuitton dedicating its SS14 collection to her avant-garde aesthetic.
