Vintage Design
This Classic Scandinavian bookcase was designed by Danish master carpenter Johannes Sorth for Nexø Møbelfabrik, Bornholm, Denmark in 1956. The idea was to combine a cabinet and a bookcase, and it was an instant success.
It was produced in five different versions, and this version was the top of the line in rosewood/palisander with cabinet and tambour doors. It can stand alone or be combined with other book cases from the same series.
The pull out desktop adds another function as a secretaire or writing desk besides being a bookcase. Loads of storage space behind the two sliding doors, with a height adjustable shelf inside. The two wide top shelves are also height adjustable for individual needs.
This piece has an extraordinary beautiful and expressive rosewood grain and deep color.
Very good handbuilt quality. True craftsmanship from the Danish Mid-Century Modern era.
Date of production: November 1969. Stamped on back.
Amazing vintage condition. Only few signs of use. A small veneer chip on top back edge and few small darker areas on desktop. Gently cleaned, oiled and polished.
